Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari passes 1.58 crore groundwater recharge structures

More than 1.58 crore artificial groundwater recharge structures had been built under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari as of 3 September 2026, according to a feature from the Press Information Bureau.

Jan Bhagidari means people's participation, and the feature is titled "From Local Action to Water Security". The count keeps climbing: by 31 May 2026, more than 1.5 crore structures had been reported against a target of at least one crore.
