Catch the Rain: a national water conservation campaign from 4 July to 4 August 2026

The Ministry of Jal Shakti launched Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari: Catch the Rain on 1 June 2026, with a focused nationwide campaign running from 4 July to 4 August 2026.

It follows JSJB 2.0, launched on 1 June 2025, which concentrated on speeding up groundwater recharge in districts classed as Over-Exploited and Critical. That phase set a target of at least one crore groundwater recharge structures by 31 May 2026; more than 1.5 crore were reported, beating the target by over 50 per cent.

The first phase, JSJB 1.0, was launched in Surat on 6 September 2024. It ran from 1 April 2024 to 31 May 2025, and more than 27 lakh structures were reported under it.
