Atal Bhujal Yojana ends after work in 8,203 water-stressed gram panchayats

Atal Bhujal Yojana, the Ministry of Jal Shakti's groundwater scheme, has ended. It worked in 8,203 water-stressed gram panchayats in 229 blocks across 80 districts of seven states.

More than 83,800 supply-side structures, such as check dams, ponds and recharge shafts and pits, were built or renovated under it, and 180 blocks showed an improvement in groundwater level. An impact assessment study was carried out by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
