More than 2 lakh villages certified Har Ghar Jal under the Jal Jeevan Mission

More than 2 lakh villages have been declared Har Ghar Jal certified under the Jal Jeevan Mission, according to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, as reported by News On AIR on 14 August 2026.

The mission began on 15 August 2019 with the aim of safe and adequate drinking water for every rural household. Rural households with tap water have grown from 3.23 crore at the start to 15.91 crore, so more than 12.68 crore households have been given tap water since the launch.
