Pulse output

An electrical signal from a meter, often from a reed switch or sensor, that gives one pulse per fixed volume, such as one pulse every 10 litres. A data logger or AMR module counts the pulses to work out volume and flow rate.

Why it matters

It is a simple way to add remote reading to a mechanical meter. Check the pulse value and wiring before connecting a logger, or every reading will be wrong by the same factor.
