Glossary
Pressure management
Controlling pressure in a network so it stays only as high as needed to serve consumers, using pressure-reducing valves, pump controls or zone design. Lower, steadier pressure reduces the flow through existing leaks and the rate of new bursts.
Why it matters
It is one of the most cost-effective ways to cut real losses, because every leak in the zone flows more slowly at once. Fewer bursts also mean longer pipe life.
