Prepaid water meter
A meter that delivers water against credit bought in advance, using a token, card or remote recharge. Usage is deducted from the balance, and a built-in valve can close the supply when credit runs out.
Why it matters
It reduces billing and collection visits for the utility and lets households track spending. A scheme using it needs a clear policy on minimum supply, since water is an essential service.
